PENRHYNCOCH  2  RUTHIN TOWN  1

Gavin Allen will be delighted with this hard fought 3 points as Penrhyn continued on their unbeaten run. A goallessfirst half produced very few chances as both sets of defences canceled each other out with only Sion Meredith coming close for the home side, 10 minutes before the break. The second half started much brighter with3 goals coming inside the first 15minutes, Llyr Hughes’ fantastic free kick gave Penrhyn the lead only for Ruthin to bounce back within a minute. Liam Hinton Jones restored the advantage after what can only be described as a howler from the keeper. Ruthin piled on the preassure in the last quarter (8 minutes injury time), but failed to breech the defence as Penrhyn secured another impressive result. 

Ruthin Town 2 v Mynydd Isa 3

Mynydd Isa edged this encounter by the odd goal in five on a difficult
breezy day. Playing the better passing football they trailed for much of
the first half after Kevin Breeze opened the scoring for Ruthin after five
minutes. Pressure told when Joe Desormeaux scored for Mynydd Isa with five
minutes of the first half to go. They were soon ahead when a free kick was
awarded at the start of the second half. A long ball was sent into the box
for big Paul Connolly to head in. Ruthin came back with a free kick of
their own, Liam Jones curling a 25 yard free kick around the wall against
the post and in for an excellent goal. From the kick off Mynydd Isa scored
again. A high deep cross came in from the right was caught in the wind,
Dean Hardstaff judged the flight of the ball better than the Ruthin defence
to score from 6 yards with a strong header. Ruthin were not finished, with
Ilya Haycock and Mike Garrod linking well on the right they started to play
some good passing football of their own. Ruthin dominated the remainder of
the match pushing for the equaliser but Mynydd Isa stood firm to take the
points and continue their good start to the season.

Below par Ruthin continue to gain results. 

Rutihn scored in the first few minutes through Mike Garrod following a great pass by Will Roberts. Ruthin found it difficult to get any real parttern into their game not helped by Gary Ellison and Kevin Breeze being constantly caught offside against a very square Mold back four. Mold featured most with some tidy midfield passing on 21 minutes Mold deservedly equalised through a penalty by Stuart Hayes. On 42 mins Gary Ellison ran in on goal to comfortably slot past the advancing keeper.

The second half followed a similar parttern to the first with Ruthin seemingly waiting for Mold to equalise, and Mold duely obliged in the 54th min when the unmarked Gary Burns hammered in from 30 yards out.

On 70 mins the introduction of Liam Jones and Ilya Haycock for Mike Robinson and Mike Garrod livened Ruthin up and they began to press forward Simon Hulse and Kevin Breeze began to feature more prominently and Ruthin missed a few good chances. On 80 mins Gary Ellison put Kevin Breeze through and he slotted home calmly from 20 yards. Sion T Roberts was now brought on for Gary Ellison, Ruthin continued to press but had a number of scares at the back before full time.  

Ruthin continue to play poorly and win which is no bad thing but they need to improve for the visit to Guilsfield in the Welsh cup this Saturday. With Llandyrnog also coming up at home in the League Cup the following Saturday.

Gresford 2 Ruthin Town 3                

With Bala beating a usually difficult home team in LlanfairPwll eight nil it may put Ruthin's last result into perspective and 3 points at Gresford keeps the season rolling on nicely. Adie Jones would admit that the team are still short of top form with a number of established players not doing themselves justice.

Ruthin started very positively against Gresford and dominated the first half they strolled to 2 nil up via a very sharp header from Gary Ellison on 16 minutes and a neat finish by Kevin Breeze following a great through ball by Dafydd Jones. On 40 minutes Ben Collins got an unfortunate straight red card for swearing this was rather strange due to the fact every player on the pitch had uttered a few curses throughout the first half.

This unsettled Ruthin and they saw out the first half under pressure from Gresford, the second half followed this pattern with Ruthin finding it difficult to regain their previous rhythm on 50 minutes Max Peate got one back for Gresford but within a minute Ruthin regained their 2 goal margin again Ellison stealing in with a header from a precise free kick by Liam Jones.

Gresford then proceeded to have 2 players sent off for swearing. In the last couple of minutes Gresford grabbed a lifeline with Mike Pugh getting their second this gave Ruthin a nervous last few seconds.

Subs for Ruthin: 16 yr old Gwydion Ifan impressed after coming on for the injured Eilir Edwards after 40 mins, Lennox Beddows for Gary Ellison 80 mins,  

Whilst Ruthin management will strive to emphasise to players that swearing is not acceptable I'm sure Gresford would join us in asking referees to use common sense by strongly warning players and being consistent in their actions.

Ruthin Town 0 Bala Town 2                

Let's take the positives out of the game Ruthin lost 2 nil to the best side in the league and couldn't play worse if they tried.

Too many Ruthin players didn't turn up on the night Bala should have been 3 nil up in 20 minutes, but from that point to half time Bala were at their most dangerous when Ruthin had the ball a bad mistake by Will Roberts allowed a pass in midfield to run past the sleeping Ruthin back four to allow Penlington to run in on goal and tap past Simon Williams. 15 minutes later an even worse mistake by Mike Garrod alllowed Penlington to have another run in and tap past Williams. 

Ruthin stirred themselves in the second half but Bala comfortably ran out to full time. This result will possibly do Ruthin some good giving a number of players a reality check.

In this match sponsored by Davies Bros. Builders(Llandyrnog) Ruthins excellent start to the season continued with a hard earned win over local rivals Dyrni. On a bright evening on an excellent playing surface Ruthin and Llandyrnog battled for supremacy during the first half. In front of a big crowd the suspense was broken on 20 minutes when a great cross from Kevin Breeze found Eilir Edwards lurking at the far post he took one touch and hammered the ball into the net.

Dyrni gave as well as they received with Ruthin relying on dangerous breaks utilising the speed on Sim Hulse and Breeze. On one of these breaks Hulse met a square ball with a great strike from 30 yards out bringing the save of the match from Assie Hughes. The second half followed a similar pattern but towards the final 20 minutes Ruthin started to knock the ball around impressively, Hughes produced another great save to deny Lennox Beddows. After being caught marginally offside on a couple of occassions the dangerous Hulse finally broke clear and slotted the ball into the net past the advancing Hughes. Ruthin brought on Dafydd Jones, Matthew Davies and 16 year old Jason Roberts for the final 15 minutes they kept the ball well and started looking particularly dangerous as they played the game out.

Guilsfield 2 Ruthin Town 4                

Great win for Ruthin - Eilir Edwards bagged 2, Mike Robinson 1 and Matthew Davies 1. Ruthin dominated the first half and were 4 1 up at half time. Not so pleasing in the second half with Mike Robinson being sent off and Kevin Breeze missing a penalty.

Excellent start to the season for Ruthin at a windy Llandudno Ruthin opened the scoring via Mike Garrod, Dudno pegged them back just before half time. 5 minutes into the second half Mike Garrod was sent off and Ruthin had 40 minutes to play into the wind with ten men. Ruthin more than matched their opponents with 10 minutes to go substitute Liam Jones held the ball up on the edge of the box awaiting another substitute Kevin Breeze to run onto his well timed pass and slot in the winner.
